Associate professor in Statistics, my research focuses on foundations of statistical inference from complex sample surveys.

Yves established a world-class research related to fundamental issues of statistical inference from complex sample surveys. These issues include: variance estimation; repeated surveys; non-response; imputation; inference for complex parameters (empirical likelihood). His publications include articles in the Journals of the Royal Statistical Society (Series A, B and C), Biometrika and the Canadian Journal of Statistics.

Yves has taught a wide range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels: statistical modelling, generalised linear models, sample survey theory, nonresponse adjustment, multivariate analysis, multilevel models, longitudinal data and repeated measures, statistical computing, communication and research skills, generalised linear models, computer intensive statistical methods, statistical consulting and demography.

Research interests

Research related to fundamental issues of statistical inference of non linear parameters from complex sample surveys involving unequal probabilities, repeated surveys, non-response; imputation and adaptive sampling. These issues include: jackknife variance estimation and confidence intervals (see

Empirical likelihood inference under complex sampling;Quality assessment of complex parameters;Modelling survey data under complex sampling; Estimating equations and generalised estimating equations; Measurement of change and trend for longitudinal surveys; Variance of change for rotating panel surveys; Variance estimation and confidence interval of measure of poverty based on EU-SILC; Jackknife variance estimation; Non-response and imputation for survey data

Inclusive Growth Research Infrastructure Diffusion (InGRID): 2013-17

Second Network for the analysis of EU-SILC (Net-SILC2) 2011-14

Standard Error Estimation for Measures of Population Change over Time from Repeated Surveys (ESRC): 2009-11.
