Angela Bywater joined the University in 2014 as BBSRC Anaerobic Digestion Network (ADNet) co-manager, following on as co-manager of the Environmental Biotechnology Network (EBNet).

Jointly funded by the BBSRC/EPSRC, EBNet provides information, training, networking opportunities and funding to its large membership of academics, industry and government. The Network’s focus is on engineered microbial systems for pollution prevention, bioremediation and resource recovery. It is one of 6 UKRI-funded Networks in Biotechnology and Bioenergy (NIBB).

Angela has a background in IT and project management and also has a foothold in industry, as co-director of a company which built and installed small urban and farm digesters for nearly two decades. 

Her research interests include techno-economic analysis and bioenergy policy, with a particular interest small urban and farm anaerobic digestion systems as part of the UK’s energy mix.
