Come and study at Southampton

You'll become part of a community of audiologists, scientists and researchers who've improved the lives of thousands of patients and are passionate about improving quality of life for those with hearing and balance disorders.

As one of our postgraduate audiology students you’ll study in our open access laboratory, gaining the practical skills essential for becoming professionally registered. You’ll learn about developments in audiology and treatments for hearing loss as they happen, from research-active clinical audiologists, clinical scientists, research scientists and cochlear implant audiologists in both our in-house Hearing and Balance Centre (HABC) and Auditory Implant Service (AIS).

Whether you’re an experienced clinician or a recent science/engineering graduate, you’ll find a postgraduate audiology course, underpinned by our pioneering research, to suit your needs. As a one year MSc Audiology student you’ll be provided with scientific training in audiology and join a community of students from around the world. The MSc with clinical placement enables you to take an additional 40-week clinical placement (full or part time) after the MSc, giving you the opportunity to register and work as an NHS Audiologist.

As a Southampton alumni you’ll join a community who have transformed audiology around the world. From starting the first audiology service in Rwanda, developing the national Chinese hearing test, becoming head of a University department in Jordan to managing a hearing screening programme in the UK.
