Research project: 3D imaging for Sensitivity toothpaste efficacy testing

Investigating the efficacy of oral health formulations for dentine hypersensitivity, using novel 3D imaging methodologies to assess tubule occlusion and mineralisation of human dentine.

Engineering expertise in the National Centre for Advanced Tribology at Southampton (nCATS) will help scientists understand the effectiveness of new formulations by visualising how they desensitise its target and the effect they have on oral tissues.

The new Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) will embed an Associate between the University and GSK to identify and advise on novel 3D imaging techniques that reveal how toothpaste products function and can be improved.
