Research project: Nanoparticles for energy saving glazing
Nanoparticle based coating is a step towards energy saving glazing.
Nanoparticle based coating is a step towards energy saving glazing.
There has been increasing interest in technologies that can reduce the consumption of energy for heating or cooling houses (14% of the total energy used), where the glazing of houses offers great potential for energy saving since much of the energy is lost through the windows.
The problems of the current technologies to reduce energy loss are the costs and the colour that give to windows. A new technology that seems very promising involves the use of nanoparticles to adsorb the radiation which passes through the glazing.
