Research project: Understanding Freight Decarbonisation Investment Decisions

Currently Active:
Yes

This project aims to identify the main factors that influence investment decisions for stakeholders in freight transport by road, rail or sea

The project aims will be achieved through online focus group interviews with key stakeholders, including fleet owners, freight operators, freight trade associations, professional bodies and those making investment decisions within the public sector. These interviews will contribute to generate a multicriteria decision analysis (MCDA) framework that will enable the quantification of changes in the relative significance of these factors for each sector over time. This study will also research the relationships between these factors and internal freight decarbonisation targets, and it will identify the alignment between these and climate emergency, energy and transport policies. Our project partner in this 5-month study is TRL.
