Qualifications

Msc Social Research Methods – University of Southampton – Distinction

Ba Geography – University of Southampton – First Class

Research interests

My interdisciplinary research interests include informal care for older adults, home and living arrangements, shared living and social networks.

At present, my PhD research explores the lived experiences of both older and younger homesharers. Homesharing is where an older person rents out a room at a cheaper rate in exchange for household chores and informal care (activities such as cooking, cleaning and providing company). This study will examine the relationship between homesharers and will analyse how homesharing impacts on feelings of independence/dependence. I use interviews, photo-elicitation and emotion maps to investigate how homesharing changes the meaning of home and to provide an in-depth picture of homesharers’ experiences.
