Research project: MOTH Project 2: Exploring the factors that facilitate and hinder the implementation of digital tools for self-management of long-term conditions within existing healthcare structures and pathways
Digital tools, such as websites, mobile applications (Apps) or wearables, have the potential to support self-management for people with LTCs. However, many are developed without a full understanding of the wider context in which they will be used. As a result, many digital tools are not adopted by people with LTCs. Existing research has identified the importance of integrating such tools within existing healthcare structures and pathways. This project, within the Maintenance Of Physical AcTivity BeHaviour (MOTH) programme, will therefore explore the barriers, facilitators, needs and preferences that influence the implementation of digital interventions for self-management of LTCs. This project also aims to identify how recommendations for implementation from policy or other standards converge and/or diverge from commissioning and practice-level factors.
