Dr Silvia Caggiari BSc, MSc, PhD
Research Fellow

Dr Silvia Caggiari is a Research Fellow at the School of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton.
Dr Silvia Caggiari's background includes an EPSRC iCase PhD (University of Southampton, UK), and a MSc in Biomedical Engineering from University of Bologna (Bologna, Italy). Silvia also worked 2 years as Research Assistant at the “Biomechanics and Industrial Ergonomics” Laboratory (University of Cagliari, Italy), where she developed interest for human motion detection in the clinical field.
This research interest was pursued during her doctoral work, which was designed to develop an intelligent algorithm to investigate posture and movement profiles during lying and sitting postures in individuals at risk of developing Pressure Ulcers.
Silvia currently works in the research project “A BioEngineering approach for the SAFE design and fitting of Respiratory Protective Equipment (BE-SAFE RPE)”, in collaboration with industrial, academic partners and clinicians, which aims to develop an intelligent fitting software and new design template for respiratory protective devices, to prevent the risk of developing facial injury.
