Dr Federico Capone is an EPSRC Doctoral Prize Research Fellow in the General Relativity and String Theory/Holography groups at the University of Southampton.

2017-2021: PhD in Mathematical Sciences (Theoretical Physics), University of Southampton

Title of Thesis: Aspects of Holography beyond AdS, BMS superrotations in higher dimensions

Advisor: Prof. Marika M. Taylor

2015-2017: MSc in Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics, Università del Salento, Lecce (Italy) and Scuola Superiore ISUFI, Università del Salento, Lecce (Italy).

2012-2015: BSc in Physics, Università del Salento, Lecce (Italy) and Scuola Superiore ISUFI, Università del Salento, Lecce (Italy).

Research interests

My research interests lie in the field of theoretical and mathematical physics.

In particular, as a PhD student I have worked on the issues related with the extension of the AdS/CFT correspondence to the so-called asymptotically flat spacetimes, especially in spacetime dimensions higher than four. This addresses the broader question of the realizations of the Holographic Principle beyond spacetimes with negative cosmological constant (such as AdS).

I am currently exploring this topic as well as other aspects of AdS/CFT such as quantum chaos and black holes.
