Prof Tim Iveson is Professor Gastro-Intestinal Oncology within Medicine at the University of Southampton

Tim graduated in Medicine from St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London in 1984 and completed his oncology training at the Royal Marsden Hospital. Tim was appointed as a Consultant Medical Oncologist in Southampton in 1995 and has been Professor of Gastro-Intestinal Oncology since 2020.

Tim has been actively involved in clinical research throughout his consultant career contributing to many landmark studies defining treatment for gastro-intestinal cancers.

Tim was the Chief Investigator of the SCOT study which was part of the IDEA (International duration evaluation of adjuvant therapy) collaboration. These studies have defined a new global standard of three months duration of adjuvant chemotherapy for many patients with colorectal cancer. Tim is also actively involved in the TransSCOT translational research programme.
