Breath4t Study

Dealing with asthma?
12 - 17 years old?

We have an opportunity for you and other teens to test out a new website.

Teenagers tell us that it can be difficult to stay calm during an asthma attack. Our team have already developed a successful training programme to help adults use breathing exercises to stay calm and help their asthma. We’ve adapted this for younger patients using a mobile-friendly website.

In this study, we want to find out:

Can a new website help teenagers to manage their asthma better and improve their overall lives?

We will compare a group of teenagers using the new website with a group of teenagers who are having usual care from their doctor or nurse. We don’t know which group participants will be put in, as the website will decide at random.

The study will last 6 months, and participants will receive a £10 voucher to thank them for their time.

Watch the videos below to find out more:

What is the Breathe4T study about?

We’d like to make a successful breathing exercise programme available for younger patients.

What will happen if I take part?

Participants will be put into a group at random. Both groups will have a chance to use the website.

What are the benefits of taking part?

Participants will get to learn about their asthma and breathing exercises, alongside their usual care. Participants will also receive £10 for taking part.

What happens next?

Participants may talk to their family and friends before deciding if they’d like to take part. Contact the research team below to get started.
