Ms Amy Jackson is a postgraduate research student within Biological Sciences, at the University of Southampton.

• 2012 – 2015, University of Leeds, BSc (Hons) Zoology
• 2015 – 2016, Imperial College London, MSc Ecology, Evolution and Conservation
• 2018 – present, University of Southampton and the Natural History Museum (UK), PhD Evolutionary Biology

Research interests

My main research interests are speciation, evolutionary genetics, adaptation and island biogeography.

My PhD is investigating the evolution of a plant genus Descurainia, specifically those that are endemic to the Canary Islands. The project aims are to next-generation sequencing to understanding their patterns of evolution and the underlying evolutionary mechanisms behind high altitude adaptation.

Research project: Identification and analysis of speciation genes in island plants
