Mr Jan-Torben Witte is a postgraduate research student within Ocean and Earth Science, National Oceanography Centre Southampton at the University of Southampton.

09/2013: BSc. Physics, University of Rostock. Thesis title: Analysis of near-inertial wave mixing over a submarine ridge

09/2016: MSc. Physics, University of Rostock. Thesis title: Analysis of slope-induced tidal straining and transport of suspended material near a uniform rotating slope

12/2016: Internship with develogic GmbH, Software Engineering/Electronics

08/2017: Scientific Officer, German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency, Hydroacoustic monitoring of offshore construction

Research interests

I am interested in fluid mechanics, ocean turbulence and mixing mechanisms as well as the measurement of turbulence with gliders/other platforms and CFD modelling.

Research project: A coupled CFD and observational approach to improve measurements of ocean turbulence from gliders
