Ian is a senior teaching fellow of mathematics education in the Southampton Education School at the University of Southampton. He is a Co-Director of Initial Teacher Education and the Programme Lead for the PGCE (Primary) programme. He mainly works with beginning teachers on the PGCE (Primary) programme but also teaches on undergraduate programmes.
Ian’s professional interests include reflective practice within Initial Teacher Education, particularly the use of video in supporting self-evaluation and developing pedagogical awareness. He is also interested in the mathematical subject knowledge of primary school teachers and curriculum theory and design.
