About
Jana completed her PhD at the University of Southampton following an MSc in Environmental Economics from the University of York. She joined as a member of staff in the Department of Economics in 2016.
Jana previously held posts at the Central Bank of Malta and as an economic consultant in the private sector.

Research interests
- Her research interests lie in the area of experimental microeconomics, with a particular focus on applications to education. Her research examines how individuals’ time and risk preferences interact with other dimensions to influence behaviour. She elicits risk and time preferences using both laboratory and online experiments. She has applied this research to investigate the relationship between students’ preferences and their educational achievement, as well as to identify interventions that may help students become more sophisticated and adapt their behaviour to manage procrastination.
- Alongside this substantive research, her work also spans meta-research on how impact is evidenced within educational scholarship.

Biography
Dr Jana Sadeh is a Principal Teaching Fellow in the Department of Economics within the School of Economic, Social and Political Sciences (ESPS) at the University of Southampton. She is the Director for UG Programmes (single honours) and co-manages the Experimental Lab within the Department of Economics.
