About

I am currently working as Lecturer B/ Senior Lecturer (according to the UK system) at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Southampton. Prior to that, I worked as an Assistant Professor at the Aerospace Engineering Department of IIT Kanpur (2019 - ). I was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Engineering Science Department of the University of Oxford, UK (2017 - 2019) before starting to work as a faculty. I accepted a tenured Assistant Professor position at the James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, UK for a short stint before joining IIT Kanpur. I  completed my PhD from the College of Engineering of Swansea University, UK (2014 - 2017). My research interests and expertise broadly lie in the field of mechanics and multi-physics analysis focusing on mechanical metamaterials and advanced functional composites at multiple length-scales covering forward and inverse problems in engineering that warrant frequent excursions among the boundaries of applied mathematics, physics, probability theory and nanotechnology. The research findings and developments originating from our investigations are regularly published in reputed journals (with publishers like Nature, RSC, IOP, APS, Elsevier, Wiley and Springer), conferences and books.

I am passionate about high quality research and teaching that matters to the society and mankind. I am a recipient of the Zienkiewicz Scholarship from Swansea University, UK covering full tuition fees at international rate and generous living expenses for pursuing doctoral study. My research work was recognized as the best PhD in engineering among all the departments and colleges of the university. Before moving to UK for pursuing PhD, I received Junior Research Fellowship from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. I was awarded the MHRD Scholarship for completing masters study at the same institute (2011-2013). My master's thesis in the field of inverse problems was recognized as the best thesis in structures with highest grade.  The present focus of my research is on mechanical metamaterials and advanced multi-functional composites encompassing different critical aspects related to solid mechanics, materials and structures.
