Dr. Hongtao Wang is a Research Fellow based in the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton. His research focuses on operations research and transportation, with particular expertise in mathematical programming, stochastic optimisation, maritime logistics, and heuristic/metaheuristic algorithm design.
His current responsibilities include conducting independent and collaborative research on optimisation under uncertainty, contributing to funded projects on stochastic programming and resource allocation, and developing computational optimisation methods with real-world applications. He works closely with academic and interdisciplinary partners on Mixed-integer programming and stochastic programming with applications to transportation, scheduling, location allocation, medical, and public resource planning. Some of his works have been published in journals like INFORMS Journal on Computing, European Journal of Operational Research, and Computers & Operations Research.
