Visual haptics laboratory

More Information

About the Visual haptics laboratory

This lab allows us to create virtual objects which you can 'see' and 'touch'. For example, we can create objects that appear hard or soft, sticky or slippery, smooth or rough.

A haptic (touch) force-feedback device is attached to one finger. We program this device to produce forces that lead to sensations for our participants, when they move their finger across the virtual object. Participants can also view the object in a mirror, which gives them the impression they are seeing and touching a single object.

Technical specification

  • Phantom haptic device
