Marine Biology and Ecology

Milticoloured coral with different types of fish.

We research the effect of human activities and natural environmental change on marine systems, marine organisms and ecosystems.

Based at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton, the group is made up of more than 60 researchers and postgraduate students. We use a range of observation, sampling and monitoring methods to research environmental and anthropogenic (human-made) pressures on organisms and ecosystems.

The aim of my research is to understand how marine communities interact with the environment and affect community dynamics and ecosystem properties in natural and disturbed benthic ecosystems.
