Project overview
National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC), UK. Proof of Concept (POC) Round 2 (Research Grant). £74,405 (£39,524 from NBIC, £25,000 from Oxi-Tech Solutions).
Oxi-Tech have developed the ozone producing technology Oxi-Cell to combat bacterial biofilms. Oxi-Cell is fitted in-line to water systems to inhibit microbial growth. To validate this technology and facilitate the commercial uptake of OxiCell, we will quantify the antimicrobial effects of this system on planktonic and biofilm populations.

We work on topics like patient treatment regimens, catheter design and management, and surgical instrument decontamination.
Biofilms
Biofilms are a collective of one or more types of microorganisms that can grow on different surfaces. Their impact is central to some of the most urgent global challenges, including food and water security, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), infections disease and contamination and more.
