An interdisciplinary team of academics from the university's Law School and Business School have been awarded a Faculty Vice Chancellor's PGR scholarship for a research project titled “Managing Flood Risk in the UK”. The scholarship will fund a PhD student for three years of study and will come with some additional support very kindly offered by the British Law Association and the Institute for Risk Management.

The project team members are Dr Johanna Hjalmarsson and Professor James Davey from the Law School and Dr Alasdair Marshall (pictured above) from the Business School. The team will utilise their cross-disciplinary expertise in law and risk management to supervise the project which aims to develop a deeper understanding of how insurers can cooperate with governmental and other public bodies to improve how the UK handles the growing problem of flood risk.

News of this award comes in a week in which Dr Ian Dawson and Dr Oliver Marnet from Southampton Business School were also awarded a Faculty PGR Scholarship to fund a three year research project that will examine the impact of internal audit on enterprise risk management performance.
