Research project: Statistical modelling

Statistical modelling research focuses on three main areas. The first is concerned with developing statistical analysis procedures to handle various complexities of large survey datasets including non-response and measurement error.

We are also developing multilevel data models, with applications in demography, to model of contraceptive use dynamics, and in geography, to model spatial variations in patterns of consumer choice.

The final area is concerned with categorical data analysis. Current research includes work on generalised linear models with random effects; methods for longitudinal data, exact conditional tests for log-linear, logistic and graphical models and models for social network data. Much of the research in this area involves Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods and other computer intensive statistical methods.
