Southampton Chemistry Deans International Scholarship

Scholarships of £5,000 are available to international students studying chemistry at either undergraduate or postgraduate level.  

There are 4 scholarships available. The £5,000 off tuition fees is for the first year of study only.

Eligibility  

To be eligible for a scholarship you must: 

  • be an international student 
  • hold a conditional or unconditional offer from Southampton 
  • be studying on an undergraduate or postgraduate programme in Chemistry 
  • be self-funded and required to pay the overseas tuition fee 

You must not be in receipt of any external scholarship. 

Deadline to apply 

The deadline for applications is different for undergraduate and postgraduate applications.  

We cannot accept late applications. If your application is successful, you will receive confirmation in an email with an attached letter.   

All scholarship offers are final. 

Undergraduate applications 

Undergraduates can apply from w/c 24 October 2022 until 5pm (UK time) on 21 February 2023. We will contact you:  

  • by 19 May 2023 at the latest if your application is successful 
  • after 20 May 2023 if your application is not successful  

Postgraduate applications 

Postgraduates can apply from w/c 24 October 2022 to 5pm (UK time) on 14 April 2023. We will contact you:

  • 1 June 2023 at the latest if your application is successful 
  • after 2 June 2023 if your application is not successful 

How we award scholarships 

This is a competitive process and not all applications will be successful.   

There are 4 stages to the shortlisting process.  

  1. We check that you meet the eligibility criteria. 
  2. We score your academic record and qualifications on your UCAS form or PGT application form. 
  3. We shortlist candidates across all departments to recognise academic excellence in all areas.  
  4. A selection panel will decide on who gets the scholarships. 

The decision of the scholarship panel is final.

How to apply 

To apply for the scholarship you must complete and submit the online application form.

In the application form, you will need to provide your personal details and the name of the course you will study. You will also need to answer 2 questions.  

  1. What are your career aspirations and how do you plan on achieving those goals? (500 words maximum word count). 
  2. As a Southampton Chemistry International scholar how might you act as an ambassador for the University? (200 words maximum word count).
