Dr Yun Luo PhD, MSc, BSc

Dr Yun Luo is Lecturer of Finance at Southampton Business School, University of Southampton. Before joining the school in 2020, I was Research Fellow at Coventry University. I obtained my PhD in Finance from Coventry University in 2014.
Yun Luo holds a bachelor's degree in Economics (Zhejiang University in Economics and Finance, China), an MSc in Finance (Coventry University, UK) and a PhD in Finance (Coventry University, UK).
My research interests mainly include two strands of research topics: International Finance/Economics and merge and acquisition (M&A). Current research topics include: analysis the impact of financial integration/banking sector mergers and acquisitions (M&A) on bank performance; evaluate the determinant of FDI such as institutional quality, intellectually property and FDI spillover effects; analysis the communication strategy during in merger and acquisitions; and what is the social impact of financialisation such as the income inequality. I prefer applied research because I am more interested in uncovering what happens in the real world by letting the data tell much of the story.
