Dr Erika Corradini is Senior Teaching Fellow in Academic Development in the Centre for Higher Education Practice (CHEP)

Erika’s background is in education and staff development in the areas of languages and linguistics. After completing her PhD in English, Erika worked as lecturer in Humanities and later moved into education development and staff support. In her career so far, Erika has created and led projects centred on the professional development of teaching staff in the secondary and tertiary education sectors. This has involved the creation of support activities for fostering good academic practice in teaching and learning, including but not limited to e-learning, cross-sector partnerships, PGRs and educators’ training, as well as promotion of the teaching profession in the UK.

Research interests

I am interested in education development and best academic practice. More specifically, my research interests focus on pedagogical innovation and the enhancement of the student experience.

My most recent project in employability culminated in the publication of Corradini, Erika, Borthwick, K. and Gallagher-Brett A. (2016) Employability for Languages Graduates: A Handbook. 189pp. Reasearch.net Publishing.

I lecture in academic development on the Post Graduate Certificate of Academic Practice and design similar staff development courses.

RoutesLive employability webinar series (HEFCE, 2015-2016)

A digital initiative to support academics, teachers and students in embedding employability skills into the academic curriculum

Language Teacher and Ambassador of the Year awards (2015, 2016)

I developed this award in collaboration with the Association for Language Learning to raise the profile of teachers and to encourage student ambassadors to consider the teaching profession in languages.

Student Language Ambassador PAL scheme (2011-2016)--Routes into Languages

A national Peer Assisted Learning mentoring scheme to facilitate the transition from secondary school to university.

Employability for languages (2015)

A project focussing on the production of resources aimed at developing the employability skills of language learners in secondary schools.
