The purpose of this module is to provide you with an in-depth theoretical knowledge, understanding and skills in advanced adult audiology diagnostic assessment and management techniques, using a person-centered approach.

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- Critically evaluate information from the evidence base relating to the above advanced techniques
- Explain a range of disorders of the ear and hearing, understand their surgical/medical treatment and outline their audiological management
- Explain a range of core and advanced clinical audiology techniques related to the assessment of ear and hearing of adults as well as the underpinning theory with reference to the evidence base, including the strengths and limitations of the techniques
- Demonstrate mastery of effective self-directed learning and scientific communication
- Understand how to support patients with hearing loss using a range of advanced counselling techniques

> Exploring the adult Audiology patient journey in the context of routine and advanced diagnostic assessments and rehabilitation
> Introduction to person-centered communication skills for advanced clinical assessment and explanation of clinical findings
>Deaf awareness training (including recognising and understanding the impact of hearing loss, communication tactics, deaf community and culture)
> Advanced hearing assessment approaches
> Advanced middle ear assessment approaches
> Advanced auditory evoked responses measurement approaches
> Advanced otoacoustic emissions testing
> Speech audiometry
> Advanced counselling and management of hearing loss

Assessment
Assessment strategy
The module is assessed via an exam and written assignment.
Referral – If you don't pass the module on the first attempt you will refer only on the assessment that you didn't pass the first time.
Method of repeat year - If you don't pass the module at the first attempt you will have to repeat the year. The module can be repeated internally or externally.
