Principles of Physiotherapy Practice
This module builds on Foundations of Physiotherapy Practice, helping you to consolidate and advance your knowledge, skills and behaviours in preparation for your first practice-based learning (placement) module. You will be introduced to a clinical reasoning framework that will enable you to work logically through the assessment process ensuring a holistic approach (biological, psychological and social factors). You will learn how to gather both subjective and objective information, make sense of it to form a clinical impression, create problem lists and identify goals and management plans applicable to patients with a simple musculoskeletal, neurological or cardiorespiratory problems. You will also learn about basic management options, with a focus on advice, activity participation and exercise to manage a range of different conditions. -

Principles of Physiotherapy Practice 2
This module develops and extends the assessment and management skills introduced in Part 1 of this module, preparing you for increasingly complex case scenarios. You will build on your knowledge of clinical reasoning to further refine your ability to assess and manage patients with multi-factorial musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiorespiratory presentations. Emphasis will be placed on integrating subjective and objective findings to inform evidence-based management plans and you will be introduced to more advanced rehabilitation techniques, whilst continuing to incorporate advice, education, exercise and activity participation. The module will also explore the role of physiotherapy in long-term condition management, multidisciplinary care and health promotion, encouraging you to apply biopsychosocial and cultural principles consistently in practice. -

Principles of Risk Management
The management of risk and uncertainty, in any organisational context, rests upon a broad-ranging skillset comprising an understanding of relevant concepts and an ability to think critically about management procedures. This ‘front end’ module equips students with this versatile skillset and helps orient them to later modules where thinking critically about risk and uncertainty is vital.
