Sean Symon is a lecturer (assistant professor) in the AeroAstro Department at the University of Southampton in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
Sean studied Aerospace Engineering at the University of Maryland where he completed a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in French Language/Literature in 2012. Later that year, he became a masters student at the California Institute of Technology and was awarded a Master of Science in Aeronautics in 2013. The next year was spent at Ecole Polytechnique in Paris where he was awarded a masters in fluid mechanics in 2014 before returning to Caltech for his PhD. Sean defended his thesis in 2018 and became a post-doctoral research fellow in Australia for 2 years at the University of Melbourne. He began as a lecturer in the Aerodynamics and Flight Mechanics Group in 2020 at the University of Southampton.
