Radiation from intake ducts

Multi-mode sound radiation from ducts with uniform flow has been examined. In the high-frequency limit, a simple analytic solution has been derived to predict the far-field directivity. Results have been derived for different source models including an equal power per mode distribution.

Results have been compared with numerical solutions calculated using the Wiener-Hopf technique for an unflanged duct, and the Rayleigh integral for a flanged duct.
