Library Regulations: Schedule 2: Borrowing Regulations

General regulations

  1. Books must not be removed from the Library unless they have been borrowed in accordance with the regulations.
  2. The Librarian may require the immediate return of any book from any borrower after it has been on loan for seven days during term or vacation.
  3. In the event that a borrowed book is retained by the borrower beyond the date set for return, the Librarian will withdraw the right or privilege of borrowing from that borrower until such time as the book is returned to the Library or the loan period extended and the penalty for that transgression is fulfilled.

Categories of loan

  1. Books marked Reference Only cannot be borrowed. They must be consulted in the Library.
  2. Books in the Course Collections are shelved separately in a designated area.
  3. One week loan items are shelved with the general collection but are specially marked.
  4. All other books are Long Loan. The period of long loan is a fixed date around the end of the summer and a fixed date around the end of the summer vacation.
  5. Users of the Library may recommend the transfer of books in high demand to a shorter loan period. Loans desk staff should be contacted.
  6. All periodicals are Reference Only.
