About
John Schulz is a Professor in the Southampton Education School and is the Director of the SEds Video & Digital Media Studio.
John specialises in online and video-based learning and developed one of the University’s first fully online programme, an MSc in Education. He is also very prolific in creating video resources for teaching and learning. His videos series on the Fundamentals of Research Methods for Education is used by research students, academics, and universities around the globe.
John is currently working on e-learning projects with the Kazan Federal University in the Russian Republic and the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Brazil.

Current research
John's research interests stems from his interest in social psychology - how people understand and make sense of the world. He specialises in the following areas:
e-Learning: Understanding how individuals use digital media, such as YouTube, to support their learning
Video based learning: how we can optimise and create videos for learning environments
Volunteerism: Understanding the management, motivation and retention of volunteers in non-profit organisations.
Research Methods: Survey designs and quantitative analysis
