Biography
Dr Katherine Wakelin is a Clinical Psychologist and Senior Teaching Fellow who began working on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme at the University of Southampton in 2025. She was awarded the Hannah Murray award for tCBT clinical practice paper of the year in 2025 by the BABCP for her publication 'Cognitive therapy for moral injury in post-traumatic stress disorder: integrating religious beliefs and practices' (Wakelin & El-Liehty, 2025).
Prior to this, she worked as a Research Fellow 2021-2024 at the University of Surrey. During this time, she was awarded the Sarah Brown Mental Health Research Grant from RCVS Mind Matters in 2022 to supervise an extended randomised control trial of her doctoral thesis.
Dr Wakelin works part time in clinical practice alongside academia, with a specialist clinical interest in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and culturally adapted Cognitive Behaviour Therapy interventions. She is a British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered practitioner psychologist.
