About
I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Artificial Intelligence within the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton.
My research interests lie in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Societal Impact, working on Cooperative AI, Agentic AI, Multi-agent Systems, Intelligent Agents, Reinforcement Learning, and Game Theory.
I am strongly motivated by the goal of providing practical solutions to societal challenges, having developed theory and novel AI algorithms for mobility, sustainability of fisheries, and maternal health. I have led large-scale, multidisciplinary research in collaboration with experts in diverse fields and industry partners. As an example, I worked in collaboration with Google Research and ARMMAN (Indian NGO) on Kilkari, the largest maternal messaging program in the world having reached 53 million women with currently 4.3 million active users (work featured in the AiMagazine). I aim to build AI systems that work in the real world, and result in positive social impact!
