From disabled students to teachers: Mapping transitions to school-based employment

You must have the following in a relevant subject (or their international equivalents):

• a 2:1 honours degree
• an MSc with merit

You must also provide satisfactory performance at your interview.

The project is a supervisor-led PhD project for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. We encourage candidates from under-represented backgrounds to apply.

A practical understanding of the policy contexts of disability and/or education would be helpful.

English language requirements

If English is not your first language, you'll need an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) minimum level of 7.0 with a 6.5 in writing, reading, speaking and listening. Your awarded certificate needs to be dated within the last 2 years.

If you need further English language tuition before starting your degree, you can apply for one of our pre-sessional English language courses.

Full tuition fees and a tax-free stipend of £17,668 for up to 3.5 years.

There is also access to additional support for training and fieldwork.

You need to:

• choose programme type (Research), 2022/23, Faculty of Social Sciences
• choose PhD in Education (Full time)
• add name of the supervisor (Dr Ben Whitburn) in section 2

Apply for funding to do the research

Then you need to apply to the South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership (SCDTP), funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.

You don't need to wait for a decision from the University before making your SCDTP application.
