Our Approach

We support our students building their confidence, skills, knowledge and potential, not only during but after their studies, by providing relevant experiences, employability skills and opportunities for them to network with the professional creative industry. Through live projects, professional experiences, and placement opportunities our students become highly sought after by employers.

We are committed to providing a high-quality teaching environment with research-informed teaching in a well-resourced and specialist campus. At our world-class research centre we conduct leading, distinctive and prestigious research that influences and underpins teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD levels whilst being of global recognition.

In addition to subject specific knowledge and an in-depth understanding of art and design, our graduates will develop:

Our Approach

Group work is a central part of your experience and will be sustained throughout the duration of your studies. You will develop an ability to critique your own work, with a substantial support structure for peer group learning. As you progress through your studies, your skills in project and time management will advance in conjunction with your ability to visually and verbally present your work.

Assessment of your work is on-going, rather than exam based, and you will present your work (for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught students) at Winchester School of Art’s annual Degree Show. This includes a private view to which we invite the creative industries. In addition, individual programmes may host their own independent shows at external venues, traditionally in London.
