2020/21 academic year

On 17 May 2021, the latest phase of the government's roadmap for the easing of lockdown began. In line with this, we continue with a gradual lifting of restrictions and the opening up of additional facilities on our campuses.

Students who are able to come to campus are welcome to use the available facilities including libraries, sports facilities and cafes. In most cases there is no more formal teaching and the assessment period is underway.

Alongside SUSU, the University is putting on a Summer Festival in June where students will be invited to attend a range of events and activities.

Arriving from outside the UK

If you’re arriving from certain countries, you’ll need to self-isolate for 10 days in addition to your settling in week. So you should arrive 3 weeks before your induction.

This does not apply to every country. GOV.UK lists the countries currently exempt from self-isolation on arrival.

Start dates

Teaching for the 2020/21 academic year began on 5 October 2020 - If you were due to start in January 2021, your term will begin on 1 February 2021.

Postgraduate start dates

The majority of our postgraduate taught courses began their academic year on 5 October.

For postgraduate taught courses that began in February 2021, we are planning to introduce a blended model of teaching, which will combine in-person on-campus teaching with online teaching, from 7 June 2021 (the beginning of your Semester 2).
