About this course

Develop your professional skills in the main areas of allergy on this postgraduate certificate. Through this online allergy course improve and demonstrate scientific understanding, clinical knowledge and critical thinking around allergy care.

You'll develop your professional practice and improve patient outcomes on this online flexible course. This PGCert Allergy course is suitable if you’re working in a hospital or community, as a doctor, nurse, dietitian or pharmacist.

Choose how and when you study. Opt to study part-time over 2 years, or full-time for 1 year. Our course is a combination of live and recorded sessions that allow you to engage with our expert teachers and fellow students.

You can tailor the course to meet your career aspirations. You can choose to focus on:

  • allergic airways disease
  • skin and drug allergy
  • food allergy
  • designing your own learning experience in allergy to benefit your work needs

You’ll work with course lecturers who are involved in clinical practice or research on the PGCert Allergy.

Flexible study

If you prefer, you can apply to study this course as:

  • a full-time Certificate - study the same course content over 1 year
  • a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) - you can choose to study full-time over 1 year or part-time over 2 to 4 years, and will not need to write a dissertation
  • an MSc Allergy degree - study part-time 2 to 5 years or full-time for 1 year

You can top up your studies by progressing to the PG diploma or the master's degree. Your modules and fees may vary if you choose a different study option.

Course lead

This PGCert is led by Professor Judith Holloway, who was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship for her work in allergy education. This award recognises individuals who have made an outstanding impact on student achievement at university.
