Academic and Technical Skills Development
A range of skills are required for those wishing to work in the realm of remote sensing and spatial analysis. This module will help develop the skills base of students with regard to academic skills as well as those of particular value to further research and/or employment. The skills will be developed within the context of topics in remote sensing and spatial analysis.
Sessions will focus on skills such as time-management, gathering information (library and electronic resources), effective reading and note-taking, referencing and plagiarism, essay writing, oral presentation, group work and report writing. You will also be introduced to modelling and undertake a statistical component which includes practical sessions using the R statistics environment. You will be encouraged to manage your own learning, by reflecting on your current levels of skills and developing learning goals where you have gaps. -

We will introduce you to the relevant academic conventions and offer guidance on study skills which will enhance previously acquired skills and complement the advice given in ML content modules -

The module will provide an essential opportunity for us to support your development of key and transferable skills, with a benefit being felt in both your academic studies, and in the range of skills that you can showcase and discuss as you consider your career beyond University. It will consist of taught sessions, workshops, tutorial discussions and one-to-one meetings all aimed to maximise your path through your studies and towards your career. -
