Strengthening Training and Regional Networks in Demography is a partnership of six universities including the University of Southampton and five southern African universities. It aims to enhance the institutional and academic capacities of higher education institutions in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) by strengthening undergraduate and postgraduate demographic training and promoting interinstitutional networking to develop long-term cooperation and collaborative research.

The project aims to achieve this through building up the institutional capacities of academic leadership, helping academics to change their curricula and their ability to influence their surroundings. Training at each of these organisations will be made more relevant to the needs of the region, so that graduates from the courses fulfil the region's needs. The project is funded by the EU and aims to provide a network of researchers across these countries who will be at the forefront of demographic research in each region.
