Vasilis Strogilos is an Associate Professor within the Southampton Education School at the University of Southampton.
Vasilis completed his PhD in Special Education at the University of Birmingham and joined the University of Southampton in January 2018. He has previously worked as a mainstream and special education teacher in British and Greek schools.
In higher education, Vasilis has worked as a researcher at the University of the Aegean (Greece); as an online tutor at the Roehampton London Online University and at the Greek Open University; and as an assistant professor at the University of Thessaly (Greece) and at the National Institute of Education/ Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). His teaching has focused on inclusive education and on research methods in education.
Vasilis has research experience in disability related projects and particular interests in the use of appropriate teaching strategies for the inclusion for all students including those with learning disabilities. His recent research interests have centered on the development of inclusive pedagogy and curricula and the role of parents with children with learning disabilities. Vasilis has a specific interest in co-teaching, multidisciplinary collaboration and differentiation instruction. His most recent funded projects include the use of differentiated instruction in mainstream schools as a means to inclusion (funded by the National Institute of Education/Singapore) and the exploration of a partnership between a special and three mainstream schools to promote the inclusion of pupils with special needs and/or disabilities (funded by The British Academy/ Leverhulme Trust ).
