SHTAC is networking, and exchanging practices at a UK HTA information masterclass.

Karen Welch (Information Scientist) and Jonathan Shepherd (Principal Research Fellow) from SHTAC will be attending the inaugural InterTASC Information Specialists (ISSG) Workshop hosted by the Peninsula Technology Assessment Group (PenTAG) at the University of Exeter on the 9th July.

InterTASC is a group of nine independent academic teams in the UK which supports the Technology Assessment Reviews (TAR) programme.  InterTASC meets regularly to discuss the process of assessment and appraisal of health technologies and development of the methodology associated with evidence synthesis.

Over 120 delegates will attend the workshop, drawn from the independent academic teams, the pharmaceutical industry, NICE and related stakeholders to share best practice and explore new challenges relating to information provision and use in UK Health Technology Assessments. The programme for the day includes topics such as discovering unpublished trial data, the use of regulatory information for evidence synthesis, finding and making use of drug adverse effects data and using the ‘Deep-Web' to help populate cost-effectiveness models.
