My role as Science and Technology theme lead is to map, support and disseminate research initiatives in the Faculty and University that use arts and humanities methods and frameworks to engage with science and technology

This includes

  1. addressing the implications for the creative understanding of the contemporary world and its histories, environments and cultures through the lenses of science and technology
  2. a critical engagement with the cultures and histories of science and technology themselves.

Science and technology research in the Faculty is rich and diverse, with particular expertise in the depiction of technoscience in popular media, the cultures of AI, sensing technologies and robotics, data analysis and visualisation, the archaeologies and politics of the environment, the study and use of creative art and media technologies, and the design of inclusive technologies and systems. As SIAH theme lead I

The role connects with my own research interests in everyday media technoculture from digital gameplay and toys to the design and testing of experimental playful systems, in the postdigital cultural economy, and in the cultural, creative and conceptual dimensions of AI, A-Life and robotics. You can find more on this on my University profile and my research site.
