Bea is a first year postgraduate research student within Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology at the University of Southampton.

My substantive research focuses on frontline professionals coping strategies to austerity and what this means for policy implementation in the future

After graduating from the University of Portsmouth in 2012 I worked for Southern Domestic Abuse Service as a project worker for women and children. I returned to complete an MSc in Sociology and Social Policy here at Southampton in 2015. My dissertation explored grassroots volunteering with refugees in the Calais ‘Jungle’. After several years of frontline practice, I have returned to Southampton to complete postgraduate research on the theme of professional coping strategies to austerity.
