Dr. Daniel Cid is Associate Professor of Design Studies at the University of Southampton, Winchester School of Art.

His research also includes theoretical thinking about art and design.

He has recently conducted at ELISAVA Barcelona School of Design and Engineering research projects as Zero Flat in collaboration with Arrels Foundation (experimental domestic project for homeless), Design Decoding with elBulli and Ferran Adrià or General Rehearsal (experimental project about food, design and sustainability) at FAD (Fostering Arts and Design)

He has been Scientific Director of ELISAVA until May 2015. Lecturer at various European, American and Asian universities. He holds a PhD in Aesthetics, Art and Architecture from University of Barcelona. He has recently co-published books as Las casas de la vida (Ariel, 2012) or Barcelona Masala. Narratives and Interactions in Cultural Space (Actar, 2014). Between 2007 and 2010 he was an advisor to the mayor of Barcelona on architecture and town-planning projects for the city.
