The Early Years Centre is committed to providing the best possible care and early years education for your child with its multi-cultural setting.
As a parent your priority is finding a nursery with the right environment for your child, that will build their trust and confidence. We understand that children need to feel a sense of security and belonging when they are away from their parents and this a key part of our centre’s ethos.
We believe that children thrive when they are happy, relaxed and having fun in a safe and supported environment, therefore encouraging a natural love of learning and curiosity.
We are part of the university community and the benefits that brings, including access to the beautiful campus grounds where we can take the children for walks. We welcome families from all over the world and offer an inclusive environment for all.
Our children are at the centre of everything we do, and we are always working to ensure that what we are planning will benefit each child and encourage their curiosity and critical thinking.
The rooms
Under 2's (ages 3 months to 2 years)
Our youngest children are provided with safe and secure homely rooms which include:
- Areas for meal times and messy or creative activities, sleep areas and a cosy quiet area for stories, cuddles and some down time.
- Access at regular times throughout the day to play outside on an upper level play deck which is specifically for the under two ages group.
- Weekly activities to encourage the children to explore natural resources whilst developing their natural curiosity.
Toddlers (aged 2 to 3 years)
Toddlers are provided with an environment which encourages their growing independence, allowing them to experiment and explore in safe and stimulating surroundings.
Activities include construction and small world, role play, creative and imaginative opportunities together with outdoor play in our garden.
More consideration is paid to the specific areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage and the learning environment.
We focus on supporting children to build confidence and positive relationships with their peers. Also helping to develop their social skills and understand their emotions and feelings.
Pre-school (aged 3 to 5 years)
Pre-school children are provided with a stimulating environment that enables each child to reach their full potential.
Activities are planned to promote each child’s confidence and independence.
The structure and routines create an atmosphere to prepare the children for school.
The EYFS Framework is implemented when we are planning activities in order to support children to develop skills in these areas: physical, communication and language, personal, social and emotional, mathematics, literacy, understanding of the work and expressive arts and design.
The 3 i’s are what helps make and mould our curriculum:
Intention: The skills and knowledge we want the children to learn
Implementation: How we are supporting the children with this
Impact: How we know the children have made progress.
