Southampton Education School

We invest annually to provide the highest quality academic services. Our lecture theatres, seminar rooms and subject specific facilities are available to groups across the University, and also to external institutions and organisations.

Video Learning Environment

In 2010 the School established a Video Learning Environment (VidLE) to encourage and support staff's use of video technology in their research, teaching, and enterprise activities. The VidLE comprises a HD video studio with nonlinear editing equipment that allows staff to produce high quality video clips and programmes. The VidLE also has a range of video conferencing systems that facilitate the use of Skype, Adobe Connect and some more dedicated video conferencing equipment.

IT facilities

We have a range of equipment available to research students such as Window PC's with fast internet access, desk space, networked copiers and printers, and a wide range of academic and education-specific software.

PhD study and social area

There are study and social areas available for registered PhD students. This includes designated desks with locked storage space for books and material, networked printers and copiers, a comfortable sofa seating area, and kitchen facilities.

Teaching rooms

All the main teaching rooms have fully networked IT, audio-visual facilties, interactive whiteboard and projectors and access to the University wireless network. There is also a bank of laptops available for use in courses and events.
