Dr Nicole Collaço is a Research Fellow in Macmillan Survivorship Research Group within Health Sciences at the University of Southampton.

Nicole obtained a BSc (Hons) in Complementary Medicine: Naturopathy from the University of Westminster. Nicole’s doctoral research explored the experiences and needs of younger couples affected by prostate cancer (awarded the Nigel Groome scholarship).

Nicole has previously worked on qualitative projects focused on supporting men with prostate cancer (Life After Prostate Cancer Diagnosis study), and an evaluation of a service for people with lung cancer.

Nicole is a research fellow in the Macmillan Survivorship Research Group (MSRG), working on the HORIZONS programme, which is a cohort study exploring how a diagnosis of cancer and its treatment affects a person’s life over time. Nicole is working on a qualitative study that aims to understand how people connect with and mobilise supportive services and resources to help them self-manage the consequences of cancer and its treatment.
