Amy completed an undergraduate degree in psychology in 2011 at Sussex University, followed by a Postgraduate diploma in children’s nursing in 2015 and a Postgraduate diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) Health Visiting in 2016, both at King’s College London. Amy then worked in clinical practice as a health visitor for three years, in London then in Birmingham.

Amy co-founded and co-produces the podcast ‘I am a Health Visitor’ with a colleague, which disseminates evidence-based information to help practitioners stay up to date.




Research interests

Amy is passionate about parent-infant relationships and a dyadic approach to mental health in the perinatal period. She is interested in research with infants who are unsettled or unhappy in the early months and how we can best support these families in practice. She is also passionate about health inequality and inclusivity.

PhD Research

Currently, Amy is undertaking a National Institute of Healthcare Research School of Primary Care Research (NIHR SPCR) funded PhD at the University of Southampton School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education (PPM). Her PhD focuses on unsettled infants and aims to develop an intervention to support families struggling with common infant symptoms such as those of Cows Milk Allergy, Colic and Reflux. Amy is supervised by Dr Ingrid Muller, Professor Miriam Santer and Professor Susan Latter.

Amy also founded and runs the children’s charity Milele, based in Kenya.
