Dr James Gavin is a lecturer in Musculoskeletal Health at the University of Southampton, who has translated from exercise to health sciences. He has interdisciplinary experience across research, specialising in physical activity promotion and intervention for people with long-term health conditions; education, leading research modules for undergraduate Occupational Therapists; and knowledge exchange and enterprise, as the Faculty lead on Southampton's Engaged University Steering Group. He is particularly interested in developing and testing community-based interventions for support physical acivity behaviours.
As a member of the Long Term Conditions research group, Dr Gavin’s research is interdisciplinary, involving academics across human geography, health psychology, medical humanities, and health sciences, and aligns to the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) Wessex.
